Ne-mo
Masonite, soft wood, and mild steel with patina. 22" x 21" x 21"

Ne-mo is a small table that functions as table on top and dog house for the bottom. The name of the project means square in Korean with a casual tone, which I thought would cover the whole concept of the shape of this project.

The project was made for metal class from junior furniture design & dog design class from industrial design class.
For the metal class, I would present the way I came up with the physical outcome, while I focused on how I would present this furniture as a part of the dog industry for the other class.
The shape of the grids was inspired from Changsal, a window frame from Korean traditional houses. In order to avoid the accidents of hurting dogs that would try to touch the frames, all of the edges were grounded smoothly.
There were indeed concern of using patina for the finishing, as the chemical would be harmful for dogs that rely on sniffing. To avoid such problems, spray lacquer was applied after the patina dried.
