In 2023 fall, I took a "Textile into furniture" class, where students from furniture or industrial design collaborate with students from textile department. I as well had a partner project from the textiles department to come up with a furniture.
Since both of us had Korean nationality in common, we decided to reinterpret our country's tradition or culture. For the theme, we decided to use "Jogak-bo", a Korean patchwork that was made of multiple types of fabrics in various shapes. Although we chose traditional concept as our theme, we tried to add contradiction to our concept; it should be traditional but modern, imperfect but arranged.
